Spotlight: Transformers: Dark Of The Moon (Shia LaBeouf, Rose Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Frances McDorman, Alan Tudyk, John Turturro)

So I saw the latest Transformers movie, Dark Of The Moon, and I must say it is my favourite out of the three. Below is my review and also a quick note, I’ve been really busy as of late and that is why I have not been doing daily news posts. I do have a reason behind that and you will see what I have been up to in later posts. Now for my review on Transformers: Dark Of The Moon.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon is the third installment of the Transformers movie series. It was directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg. It was made with DreamWorks Pictures and distributed by Paramount Pictures. Shia LaBeouf (Holes, Wall Street, Even Stevens) reprises his role as Sam Witwicky. Also reprising their roles are Josh Duhamel (When In Rome, The Romantics, Turistas) as now Lieutenant Colonel William Lennox, Tyrese Gibson (Fast Five, Death Race, Legion) as now USAF Chief Master Sergeant Robert Epps, John Turturro (The Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3, Miracle At St. Anna, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan) as Seymour Simmons, Peter Cullen (Gremlins, Winnie-The-Pooh) as Optimus Prime and Ironhide and Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, The Lord Of The Rings, V For Vendetta) as Megatron. New characters are Rose Huntington-Whiteley (Victoria’s Secret), replacing Megan Fox’s role as Sam’s love interest, as Carly Spencer, Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy, Enchanted) as Dylan Gould, Frances McDorman (Mississippi Burning, Fargo, Wonder Boys, Almost Famous, North Country) as Charlotte Mearing, Lester Speight (Gears Of War) as Hardcore Eddie, Alan Tudyk (Halo, 3:10 To Yuma, Death At A Funeral, Knocked Up) as Dutch, Ken Jeong (Hangover, Vampires Suck, Pineapple Express) as Jerry Wang and Glenn Morshower (The Crazies, Men Who Stare At Goats, Call Of Duty) as General Morshower. Two popular faces playing themselves are Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon, and Bill O’Reilly.

For a quick summary of the movie, I will try not to spoil it for you. The movie starts off with the 1969 landing of Apollo 11 and how they discovered the crash of the Ark, which was fleeing from Cybertron because of the war between the Autobots and Decepticons. In the present, the Autobots are helping the United States military with the prevention of global conflicts. Optimus finds a fuel cell from the crashed Ark and then takes to the moon to explore the crash site. He then discovers former Autobot leader, Sentinel Prime, and brings him to life and then Sentinel goes on about The Pillars. These Pillars meant the creation of a Space Bridge which between to points would be able to teleport matter. Earth as we know it would turn into Cybertron if Megatron was carrying such a device. We follow Sam Witwicky in his frustrated times, as he tries to save the planet once again and save his new girlfriend Carly Spencer.

Before I get into breaking down the components of the movie and telling you my opinion, I would like to address to matters. Firstly, while on set and filming a chase seen, a Washington DC Police SUV drove on set and crashed into Bumblebee’s Camaro and it was damaged severely. There is no reason as to why the SUV was there, and whoever was driving was clearly an idiot as the area was closed off by the DC police to begin with. Secondly, my heart goes out to extra, Gabriella Cedillo, as well as her family. She was extremely injured while on set when a steel cable snapped from a car being towed, due to a failed weld. This steel cable hit Cedillo in the face and damaged her skull. Now for the movie itself, I liked this movie a lot more than others. I know people complained about the length, but movies of this epic proportion need to be this long. I will admit, the acting could have been a lot better a dramatic, but I really like how badass Shia Lebouf made Sam look in this movie. Yes, there were funny moments as well, but he is really good at being a lead character for the Transformers series. Replacing Megan Fox with Rose Huntington-Whiteley was a big concern for me, but I warmed up to the change as I came to realize it was a totally different character. Once I knew that I was okay with the change, especially when the first time you see her is that nice booty of hers. Her acting was pretty good, for it being her first ever film. If this was the last Transformers movie they should have ended it a lot better. Sure the last fight scene was good, but the way it ended was very weird and went to quickly. It was also very noticeable that the orchestral score from Inception was used in this movie. This movie was good, but for its length it could have been better. I give Transformer: Dark Of The Moon at 4 out of 5.
